About Me
I am interested in sustainabilty and the enviromental crisis we face. Technology is an incredible tool and has the ability to help tackle many of the world's complex problems. This is what got me interested in programming and is the sort of thing I would like to use my skill set for. I want to make a difference.
I enjoy working across the full stack and have recently been focusing on web development. Lately I have been using lots of React and Gatsby and these are techonologies I would like to keep learning about. This portfolio was built with Gatsby and is hosted on netlify using continuous integration and deployment.
I have a diploma in software engineering from HyperionDev (backed by tech giants such as Google and Facebook). The course focused heavily on backend development in Python and Java. However, since graduating I have spent the majority of my time working on the frontend with javascript and libraries like react. This has given me a good grasp on the full stack process and has challenged me to grow as a developer.
Projects
Not Uber Eats || Full Stack
A list of local restaurants in South Africa that offer their own delivery services or pick up. Support local instead of letting delivery apps take 30% of every order! Makes use of a low-code content managment system called Contentful. Open Source.
Tech stack: React, Gatbsyjs, GraphQl, Bootstrap, Sass, Netfliy, Contentful CMS, Google Analytics, Git.
ProjectMS || Back End
A project management system designed to automate some of the data storing, retrieving and editing for company projects. Built all the crud operations as well as user authentication with admin/user login. Data managed using a mySQL database. (Console application - live button goes to repo.)
Tech Stack: Python moved to Java, Git.
Weather App || Front End
A weather app I built using the open weather app api. This application pulls data from the api based on users location input. It then displays the weather for that area showing information like temperature, cloud cover and even providing a unique and representative image for those conditions.
Tech Stack: HTML, CSS, Javascript, bootstrap, Git.
Machine Learning || Back End
Various machine learning projects using polynomial regression, scatter plots and the k means algorithm. Analyzing the popular iris data set as well as creating scatter plots on diabetes.
Tech Stack: Python, numpy, sklearn, matplotlib.
